Wangyang Building |
Wangyang Building is the city wall on the south gate, built from the 8th year of Jiajing in Ming Dynasty (1529). It was named Wangyang Building because it faced the sea in the south. In the 19th year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty (1893), Jinyu Railway was opened. At that time, Shanhaiguan Railway Station was only half Huali south from Wangyang Building, merchants suddenly gathered inside and outside the South Gate, becoming the business center at that time. In January 1933, the Japanese invaders provoked "Yuguan incident", and Wangyang Building bore the brunt, suffering artillery bombardment, dilapidated. At the beginning of the liberation, much remained to be done. Because of the inability to repair, the remnant building was removed in 1955, leaving an unforgettable pain! As a key project in the protection and development project of the ancient city, Wangyang Building re-stood according to the original shape at the end of 2004, achieving people's long-cherished wish.
Wangyang Building’s specification and type are the same as the arrow building of the First Pass in the World, in brick and wood structure, with nine-ridge roof, three broad rooms and two deep rooms, and the construction area is 326 square meters.
The history of anti-Japanese war in Yuguan is displayed now in Wangyang Building, reproducing that period of heroic tragic history, to remember the martyrs and prepare for danger in times of safety.
